1 Year Ultimate South America Packing List for backpacking
We may look like we have it together…but it’s taken a long time and a LOT of research to get to this point.
Which is why we have decided create the ultimate backpacking list! Have you been reading the dozens of packing lists out there and still don’t know where to start? We got ya back.
We have accounted for multiple climates, good quality gear and light rucksacks without skimping on the necessities. Our list may seem long but my bag ended up as 13kg and Trent’s was 15kg so we were pretty happy to carry that for the next 12 months!
Backpack and Bags
Good quality travel backpack – We can’t recommend Osprey enough. They are extremely comfortable and fantastic quality. I have the Osprey Aura 65L and Trent has Osprey Aether AG 70L

Canon 700D
13” Macbook Air

Tile Mate (slim combo 4 pack) - This is perfect for when you’re staying in mixed dorms with people that may be untrustworthy (as we have experienced when our GoPro got stolen) you can place your tile in your laptop/camera bag and make it ring from your phone. I slip the Tile Mate into my travel wallet during transit because I’m that unreliable.
